My husband and I just finished a wonderful kayak trip downstream on the Muskegon River from Maple Island Rd to Mill Iron Rd in the Muskegon area. On the way down we found a long area of the river that is bordered on both sides with what appears to be a series of vertical wood pilings. Does anyone know what these might have been used for? Most of the Muskegon River information I have found relates to the northern length of the river and not the Muskegon run which I think is quite beautiful and very scenic. It was a great trip!
