If a water body is already VHS contaminated, then VHS is a non issue. Cutting Perch limits or using slot limits on Walleyes, VHS is a non issue. No water transfer VHS non issue. Fish can become immune to VHS, I know of no fish immune, to starvation or being eaten. VHS concerns can be addressed and do not have to cost millions. Rising the cost of bait, encourages people to use invasive species, (gobies etc...) thus increasing the chance of spreading. A fish farmer told me they wanted to test every truck load of minnows. The alewives kill more fish in a year than VHS could kill in thousand years, but the public doesn't see that. We can restore our native fish populations without a hatchery, but that would threaten the alewives, not allowed.
